Southern Grounds Brooklyn is a coffee shop and restaurant at 400 Riverside Ave in The Hub Brooklyn — downtown Jacksonville at the corner of Riverside Ave and Forest Street, co-located with Alder & Oak and Zorba's rooftop bar. It's part of a walkable node that includes 220 Riverside apartments, Whole Foods at One Riverside, Memorial Park, and the St. Johns riverwalk.
We draw office workers from nearby buildings, residents from the apartment towers going up around us, and neighbors exploring on foot or bike. On Saturdays, the Riverside Arts Market (RAM) under the Fuller Warren Bridge brings the whole city to the neighborhood — and the foot traffic spills into long brunches and coffee stops.
This is the only Southern Grounds location with a full liquor license - which means craft cocktails alongside the direct-trade Intelligentsia coffee and Mediterranean-inspired scratch kitchen — cooking in extra virgin olive oil, seed-oil-free options identified on the menu — we run at every location. Indoor seating and a covered patio with rooftop access. Dog-friendly. Free Wi-Fi. Live music on weekends. Walk-in only.
We serve direct-trade Intelligentsia coffee, all-day breakfast and brunch, dinner, scratch-made bowls, Blueberry Bakery pastries, beer, wine, and full cocktails. Mediterranean-inspired scratch kitchen.
Opened January 2026. Open daily 6:30 AM–9 PM. Street and garage parking.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is The Hub Brooklyn? Is this just a coffee shop?
∨
The Hub Brooklyn is a three-concept dining and event complex at 400 Riverside Ave. Southern Grounds is on the ground floor — coffee, food, and all-day café from 6:30 AM. Alder & Oak, our wood-fired Mediterranean restaurant, opens next door for lunch and dinner. Zorba's Bar is the rooftop, with views of the skyline and St. Johns River. You can start your morning with us and end your evening upstairs — different vibe, same building, same ownership. Most people don't realize all three are connected when they walk in the first time.
Does Southern Grounds Brooklyn have a full bar?
∨
Yes — this is the only Southern Grounds location with a full liquor license. Every other location serves beer and wine. Brooklyn has cocktails. If you've been to our other locations and wondered why they don't have a full bar, this is where that changes.
What's the seating like? I heard it's mostly outdoors.
∨
Mostly outdoors is right — about 90 of 126 seats are on the covered patio. The space was designed that way intentionally: heaters, fans, and landscaping make it comfortable year-round. The indoor section is quieter and works well for focused mornings. The patio is where the energy is, especially when the Riverside Arts Market is running on Saturdays under the Fuller Warren Bridge nearby.
Is parking available?
∨
Street parking on Riverside Avenue and in the surrounding blocks. The One Riverside development (with Whole Foods) is a short walk north and has garage parking. This part of Brooklyn is walkable from 220 Riverside apartments and bikeable from Five Points and Riverside — a lot of regulars don't drive in at all.
Is this close to the Riverside Arts Market?
∨
Yes. RAM runs Saturdays under the Fuller Warren Bridge, about a five-minute walk from us. We're a natural stop before or after — coffee to start, lunch or a drink after you've made the rounds. Saturday mornings on the patio here are worth planning around if you're a RAM regular.
