Southern Grounds is a restaurant, cafe, and full bar in the Main Terminal at Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) — pre-security, steps from the Ticketing Lobby and Departures Hall. No boarding pass needed. You can walk in from the parking deck, ground transportation, or baggage claim.
The guest list is different from our community locations — departing travelers grabbing breakfast before a 6 AM flight, arriving passengers meeting family, Uber drivers on a break, airport staff who need real food, not a vending machine. We open at 4:30 AM because that's when the first wave hits.
The kitchen is the same scratch-made Southern Grounds kitchen: everything cooked in extra virgin olive oil and beef tallow. Intelligentsia coffee roasted in Chicago and shipped weekly — the same direct-trade program that runs at every Southern Grounds. Blueberry Bakery pastries baked daily. All-day breakfast, lunch, grab-and-go for tight timelines, and a full bar with cocktails, beer, and wine.

Do I need a boarding pass or ticket to visit this location?

No. This location is in the main terminal before the security checkpoint — no boarding pass required. You can walk in from the parking deck or drop-off area and go straight to us. It's the same access as the airport lobby. We're open to travelers, people picking up or dropping off, and anyone else passing through.
Where exactly in the terminal are you?

In the main terminal building, pre-security — same floor as check-in and ticketing, accessible directly from the parking garage and ground transportation. You don't go through any checkpoint to reach us. Look for us in the center court area before the security lanes.
What time do you open? I have an early flight.

4:30 AM daily. We open earlier than almost anything else at JAX, which makes us the practical option for early-morning departures — grab coffee and food before you check in or while you're waiting for your party to arrive.
Do you have a full bar?

Yes. The pre-security location has a full bar with cocktails, beer, and wine — in addition to the full Intelligentsia coffee program and food menu. Same kitchen as our other locations: scratch-made, Blueberry Bakery pastries on hand daily.
Is this the same Southern Grounds as the Jacksonville locations I know?

Yes — there's a second Southern Grounds in Concourse A at Gate A4, past the TSA checkpoint. That location is smaller and serves beer and wine only. This main terminal location has a full bar with cocktails and is accessible without a boarding pass — good for meeters, greeters, or anyone who wants to sit down before going through security.
